1 arrested, 1 sought on rape charges
Joshua Denzel Brown

An unconscious woman sexually assaulted by multiple males was taken to the hospital early Monday after witnesses interrupted the rape and alerted police.
One man is behind bars and a second is being sought on rape charges, Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said. Joshua Denzel Brown, 20, of Chandler Road, was charged with rape and is being held without bond in the Bulloch County Jail. Warrants were issued for the arrest of Nikilas Jamal Fussell as well, Turner said.
Officers responding to The Cove at Southern apartments around 1:30 a.m. Monday spoke to several people in the apartment, including a woman who reported the incident.
“The complainant stated that there were multiple males in an apartment that were having sex with a female that was unconscious,” Turner said. “Officers identified all of the subjects in the apartments and took voluntary statements. An unconscious 20-year-old female was transported from the apartment to East Georgia Regional Medical Center by Emergency Medical Services.”
The relationship between the victim and the suspects is still under investigation. The victim had no apparent physical injuries, he said.
The case was turned over to Statesboro police Detective Tommy Brown. Anyone with information concerning this case is asked to contact Brown at (912) 764-9911.
Information may also be submitted anonymously to or by sending the text message starting with “TIPSSPD” to 274637 (CRIMES). All information is strictly confidential, Turner said.
