Dr. and Mrs. Leo G. Parrish Jr. of Statesboro and Drs. Rebecca and Charles S. Thomas III of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren McCallie Thomas of Berlin, Germany, to Alan Duncan of Berlin, Germany, son of Eduardo Duncan and Gabriela Gómez of Monterrey, Mexico.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mary McCowan and Lincoln Combs of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Thomas Jr. of Dalton, Georgia. She is a 2008 honor graduate of Statesboro High School in Statesboro and is a 2012 graduate of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, with a BA in German with honors. She is also a graduate of Georgetown University with an MA in German. She spent two years in Austria on a Fullbright teaching fellowship and two years as a visiting professor of German at ITESM Tecnológico de Monterrey. Currently, she is an instructor of German at an international language school in Berlin, Germany.
The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Armando Gómez and Martha Sánchez of Monterrey, Mexico, and the late Guillermo Duncan and Amparo Ancira of Monterrey, Mexico. He is a 2005 graduate of the Universidad de Monterrey High School and 2011 graduate of ITESM Tecnológico de Monterrey with a BS in mechanical engineering. He began his professional career working as a technical engineer at Halliburton México. Currently, he is employed as a process engineer at Cemex Germany in Berlin.
The wedding is planned for March 28, 2020, in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México.
