Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Tammy Smith of Garfield announce the engagement of their daughter, Holly Amanda Smith of Garfield, to Ryan Thomas Hamilton, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hamilton Jr.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Ralph and Jackie Thompson and is the great-granddaughter of J.T. and Ernesteen Stewart. Holly is a graduate of Portal High School and is currently employed with Thomas Disposal Service.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Hamilton Sr. and Novine Hamilton and Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Christy. He is the great-grandson of Jean Stancil Smith. Ryan is a graduate of Burke County High School and attended Augusta Technical College. He is currently employed with Key Fire Protection.
    The couple has planned to wed on July 6, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Oak Grove Southern Baptist Church.
