Mr. and Mrs. David Wayne Dowdell of Statesboro, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Chelsea Dowdell of Statesboro, to Joel Evan Williamson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Williamson.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mary Jo and the late Jimmy Burcham and Sue and the late Jimmy Dowdell. Chelsea is currently completing her last semester in culinary arts at Ogeechee Technical College and is working at Sugar Magnolia Bakery and Café.
    The groom-elect is currently completing his senior year at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering, he will begin working with OneSubsea in Houston, Texas.
    The couple has planned to wed on
May 31, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. at a private residence.
