     Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Bland Mathews of Statesboro announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Eugenia Ann Mathews of Auburn, Ala., to Scott Daniel Coleman of St. Simons Island. The future groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Daniel Coleman III of Blakely.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Earl Luther Swicord Jr. and the late Ann Remington Swicord of St. Simons Island. She is also the granddaughter of Mrs. Charlie Joe Mathews and the late Charlie Joe Mathews of Statesboro. Miss Mathews graduated magna cum laude from Auburn University in 2005 with a degree in Early Childhood Education, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and Phi Kappa Phi Honorary. In August of 2007 she received her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Auburn University. Miss Mathews currently teaches third grade at Dean Road Elementary School in Auburn, Ala.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Porter Kerr of Macon. He is also the grandson of Mrs. S.D. Coleman Jr. and the late S.D. Coleman Jr. of Fort Gaines. Mr. Coleman graduated from The University of Georgia in 2005 with a degree in Wildlife Biology. He currently works at Little St. Simons Island as the island’s ecological manager.
     The wedding will take place July 19, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Statesboro. The reception will follow at the Forest Heights Country Club.
