Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Earl Henderson

            Rashanna Monique Kirkland and Kevin Earl Henderson were married August 30, 2008, at noon. The ceremony was held at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte, N.C., with Elder Joseph Mosley officiating.

            A formal reception immediately followed at the Embassy Suites Hotel Resort and Spa at Concord Mills in Concord, N.C.

            The bride is the daughter of Sandra Mosley Kirkland of Statesboro. Miss Kirkland is the granddaughter of Beatrice Mosley of Portal, Henry Kirkland Jr. of Metter, the late Daisy Kirkland and the late John Mosley. She is a graduate of Statesboro High School in Statesboro and Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Ga., where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She recently earned a graduate certificate in Technical Writing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is a project manager.

            The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Henderson Welcome, N.C., and is the grandson of the late John and Christine Henderson and the late Albert and Mary Wilson. He is a graduate of North Davidson High School and Winston-Salem State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Wake Forest University. He is currently a vice president and technology delivery manager with Bank of America.

            Celebration for the nuptials began with several pre-wedding events. A bridal shower in Statesboro, May 24, 2008, was hosted by the bride’s mother, Sandra Kirkland; maid-of-honor, Dr. Amy Clemons; and Carole Sheehy with the groom’s parents in attendance from North Carolina.

            A Couple’s Shower was held in Charlotte for the bride and groom and hosted by Kimm Hunley June 28, 2008.

            A lingerie shower in Atlanta was hosted by Shymeka Hunter Crigler and Cynthia Audain, friends of the bride, July 12, 2008.

            An engagement party in Mocksville, N.C., on August 2, 2008, was hosted by Loretta Miller, aunt of the groom; and Rochelle Bobo, cousin of the groom.

            A bridesmaids’ brunch, hosted by the groom’s aunt, Shelron Robinson, was held August 29, 2008, at The Dunhill Hotel in Charlotte.

            On the wedding day, the bride wore a classically inspired, strapless ivory Alencon lace gown featuring a trumpet train with her wedding date stitched in blue as the “something blue.” The veil was a cathedral-length design. The bride’s hand-tied bouquet consisted of white mini calla lilies.

            The bridal attendants wore black charmeuse strapless gowns with a crystal brooch at the side of the waist. They carried nosegay bouquets of ivory roses.

            The bride was escorted by her brother, Henry Kirkland III, and given in marriage by her mother. Maid of honor and friend of the bride was Dr. Amy Clemons. Bridesmaids were Shymeka Hunter Crigler, Kimberly Hunley, Kimberly Walker and Vontriece McElrath-Flowe, all friends of the bride.

            The groom’s father, Mr. Bobby Henderson, served as best man. Groomsmen were John Craven, friend; Brandon Henderson, Charles Miller III and Kellen Miller, family of the groom.

            The flower girls were Maya Smith and Kacyana Kirkland, niece of the bride. Terrell Kirkland, nephew of the bride, also served as the ring bearer.

            Guests were greeted by hostesses Chelsea Miller and Kayla Mosley, cousins of the bride and groom. Organist was Monty Bennett, principal organist at Friendship.

            A rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom’s parents, was held at The Embassy Suites Hotel Resort and Spa in Concord.

            After a honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico, the couple now resides in Charlotte, N.C.
