Franklin, Waters honored with parties

    Virginia Anne Franklin and Bill Waters were entertained both prior to and after their wedding, which took place at the bride’s home on August 18, 2007.
    Jewell Parker and Bobby Altmiller gave a bridal shower at the Altmiller home on June 16. Another luncheon was held at Georgia’s Bed and Breakfast on July 12 hosted by Fay Smith, Fay Foy Franklin, Terri Moore and Janice Wilbanks.
    The engagement cocktail buffet was held at the home of Annette and Bill Smith on Friday, July 27. Other hosts were Sandra and Scott Allen, Karen and Larry Anderson, Gail Ansley, Sandra and Jack Beasley, Irvin A. Brannen Jr., Emma Lou Franklin, Julie and Bill Golden, Jane Gray, Lynn and Larry Hubbard, Jeanne McDougald, Annie Sula Moxley, Mary and Archie NeSmith, Marti and Leo Parrish, Linda Sammons, Mert and Jack Slaton, Libba Smith, George Ann and Marshall Thigpen, Virginia and Lamar Trapnell, Tonya and Josh Tucker and Helen Watson.
    On Friday, August 3, a cocktail buffet was given by Gary and Debbie Johnson at their home. Other hosts included Todd Aldrich, Michele and John Barton, Jennifer and Scott Bohlke, Susan and David Brown, Gene and Leonard Herrington, Ellen Lanier, Jeanne and Hugh Marsh, Beth and Joe Mathews, Anne and Sandy Newell, Kittie and David Prosser, Laura Quattlebam and Debra Standridge.
    A morning tea was held on Saturday, August 25, at the Historic Statesboro Inn. Hostesses included Jean Braswell, Gwen Bullington, Jan Johnston, Cyndi Kohn, Betty Lane, Kathryn Lovett, Beverly Presley and Roxie Remley.
    On Saturday, September 8, a backyard barbecue was held at the home of Rick and Pam Smith. Hosts were Lee and Jim Anderson, Joy and Bryan Darley, Pat and Jimmy Hill, Barbara and Pete Johnson, Nancy and Walt Mather, Marcia and Frank Parker, Jo Helen and Bubba Propes, Judy and Clyde Redding, Karen and Chuck Shiels and Debra and Gordon Williams.
    A luncheon was held at Georgia’s Bed and Breakfast on Thursday, September 13. The hostesses were all DAR friends of the bride and included Faye Adams, Linda Akins, Jan Anderson, Imogene Brannen, Suzanne Brannen, Patricia Cassedy, Jo Chester, Frances Curry, Vera Hitchcock, Verdery Kennedy, Pat Long and Sue Meikle.
    Saturday, September 15, was the date for a Bloody Mary Party at the home of Dottie and Walter Garvin. Joining them in hosting was Patricia and Jimmy Blitch, Sylvia and Bob Brannen, Teresa and Aulbert Brannen, Harriette and Ralph Cavender and Bonnie and Fred Grist.
    A wedding brunch was held on Saturday, September 22, at the home of lnman and Mary Sue Hodges. Kathryn Olliff and Mary Demmond were also hostesses.
    Saturday evening the new couple was entertained with a cocktail party at the home of Cynthia Anderson and Mary Emmye Lewis. Others giving this party were Don and Connie Connell, Pamma Cope, Sally Daniel, Tony and Michele Garges, Sarah Hines, Cissy Mercer, Charlie Olliff, Jack and Marie Orman, Hilda and Billy Rushing and Nancy Trapnell.
    The bride and groom hosted a family wedding celebration on Saturday, September 29, at their home on Savannah Avenue. A seated southern supper was given by Mary Ann and Robert Franklin, Mert and Jack Slaton, Sylvia and Virgil Harville and Cortes Collins. Guests watched the wedding day video with the new couple.
    Virginia Anne and Bill are sponsoring a Habitat home for Bulloch County — the Franklin-Waters Habitat for Humanity House. The couple honored all of the hosts and hostesses with donations in their respective names to the Bulloch County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
