Community Review by Pat Homer
Todays the day!

Our new Community page goes live today. The development team will be working to complete the switch from the old Community site to the new Community site. The site may be unavailable for a few hours today, but should be available tonight or tomorrow morning.
What does that mean for us as users? Great things! It means that our Community site will be even better. The photos will be larger. The first five events from the calendar will be listed on the page with a link to see more events. The Blog Space will be enhanced, allowing you to rate blogs as either cool or not. You can choose to be notified by e-mail when you have a new comment to your blog. Plus, you can embed photos inside your blog for everyone to see.
If you already have an account on the old Community site, the user name and password will remain the same.  Should you decide to create a new account on the new Community site, there are a couple of minor changes you need to be aware of. User names for new accounts are limited to 30 characters, and if you decide to create a new user account, user names will not contain any spaces. If you would like a space, you can create one by replacing the space with an underscore. For example, a user name could either be avidreader or avid_reader
Ask the Expert
This new feature should be up and running now. You can access it from the home page at statesboroherald.com. Just click on the Ask the Expert logo. You can submit questions for experts in at least 40 different categories, such as computers, golf, massage therapy. Go online and check it out!
Pigskin Pickem
The college football season officially kicked off with a couple of games on Thursday night with lots more games Friday. The winner from the first week will be announced tomorrow! I can’t wait to see who the winner of the $50 gift certificate from Loco’s Grill and Pub turns out to be.
If you haven’t signed up yet, don’t fret. You can still sign up at any time, but to have a shot at the grand prize, you need to go ahead and sign up soon. Next week’s prize will be a $50 gift certificate from The University Store.
Kidsville
Truman was in town Thursday afternoon for the ribbon cutting and open house for his sponsor, Bulloch Pediatrics. He had a great time visiting with his friends.
Guess what? Truman will be back in town on Tuesday! He will be at Statesboro Regional Library to get his library card. Story time begins at 6 p.m., and Truman will get his new library card and visit with his friends.
