Community Review by Pat Homer
Coming to the Web

So many great things are coming to our Web site. We have set a firm date for the launch of the new Community Page! The new page will go live on Labor Day. Our development team will be working next Sunday to change everything over, so you may not be able to access it next Sunday—but look out Monday.
What about your video clips? We would love to see clips from rec department sports teams, cheer squads, birthdays, pets — anything you would like to share. Please limit the clips to one minute or less. Burn them to a CD or e-mail them to myvideos@statesboroherald.com. The person who submits the best video each week in September will win a $50 prize!
We have a new community contributor this week. Jody Wiggins from Newton’s Sport Shop will be keeping us up-to-date about what’s going on in the outdoor sports world. Jody is an avid outdoorsman and loves hunting and fishing. Jody and his wife JJ have a son named Chase who is a real cutie. We look forward to reading about the latest in outdoor news. See his blog below.
Pigskin Pickem
The college season kicks off Thursday night with UT-Chattanooga vs. Carson-Newman and LSU vs. Mississippi State with more games on Saturday. The Pigskin Pickem contest on the Web site starts this week, too. The prize for this week’s winner is a $50 gift certificate at Loco’s Grill and Pub. The overall winner receives a dinner party for 10 worth $500 from Meinhardt Vineyards.
Ask the Expert
Here’s another great thing coming to our Web site. Local experts will be available to answer questions beginning Sept. 3. It’s a simple way to get a quick answer. On the home page, click on the Ask the Expert logo. Log in with your user name and password. You will be taken to a page where you can submit your question. You can also add a picture, if you like. The expert will answer your question, and you will receive an e-mail to notify you that it has been answered. Go online on Sept. 3 and view our experts.
Kidsville
Hey, kids, moms and dads! Truman will be back in town on Thursday. Bulloch Pediatrics is Truman’s official sponsor, and he will be at the office to help celebrate their open house on Aug 30. Beginning with the ribbon-cutting on their new location at the professional center at the hospital, you can tour the facility, meet the physicians and enjoy some refreshments. Truman looks forward to seeing you there!
