The Rev. and Mrs. George Robert Beavers celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 19 with a reception at the Parkwood RV Park & Cottages Conference Center on Highway 301 South. The celebration was hosted by their children, Archie & Angela Beavers of Burbank, Ill., Robert & Diane Beavers of San Antonio, Texas, and Tawana Jean Beavers and Tony E. Johnson Sr. of Thomasville, N.C. The couple was married Dec. 19, 1958, at Oceanside Assembly of God in Oceanside, Calif. The Rev. Beavers was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps for 22 years. He retired in 1977 as a first sergeant. Mrs. Beavers, the former Tawana Ann DeLouch, was a special ed paraprofessional with the Bulloch County School System until 2008. They attend Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church. The couple has 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
