American Muslims have seen a surge in popularity in the past four years, according to Shahed Amanullah, a former senior advisor for the U.S. State Department.

Muslims have also been included in more political and cultural circles in the country, which has made Muslims happier, wealthier and better integrated into American society than in years past, Amanullah said.

If you had told me in the weeks after 9/11 that only 10 years later we would have two Muslim members of Congress, visible representation of Muslims on mainstream TV from CNN's Fareed Zakaria to the Daily Show's Aasif Mandvi a president with "Hussein" as his middle name, and increasingly nuanced and complex journalism covering Islam in America, I wouldn't have believed you, Amanullah wrote.

But Zakaria and Mandvi are far from the only Muslim celebrities to gain popularity in the United States in recent years. Take our quiz to see if you know which of these popular celebrities follow the Islamic faith.
