Don't get it twisted. Oprah Winfrey is really considering running for president.

Two close friends of Winfrey told CNN that she is “actively thinking” about running for the White House.

Winfrey’s closest friends have been encouraging her to run for office. Conversations about the potential run started several months ago, according to CNN.

Winfrey hasn’t made up her mind yet, though.

Speculation stirred on Sunday night after Winfrey gave an “extraordinary speech” at the Golden Globes show while receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Award.

"I want all the girls watching here and now to know that a new day is on the horizon," Winfrey said at the award show, according to BBC. "And when that new day finally dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, and some pretty phenomenal men, fighting hard to make sure that they become the leaders who take us to the time when nobody ever has to say, 'Me too' again."

According to CNN, political strategists say she might have a real shot at winning the White House.

"As some political strategists have pointed out in the past year, her fame and wealth could make her a formidable Democratic Party candidate," CNN wrote. "But insiders have their doubts too: Would Americans really choose a TV star as president twice in a row?"

Meanwhile, Oscar host Jimmy Kimmel said on Monday that he won’t announce a presidential bid at the Oscars, according to Deadline.

Instead, Kimmel said he plans to support Winfrey.

“Given the choice between Oprah and our current president, I’m on the bus with Oprah traveling the country, encouraging people to sign up and vote,” Kimmel said on Monday.

There’s one downside, he said.

“We will have to call her President Winfrey. I don’t know if we’re prepared for that as a country,” he said.

Winfrey joins several other celebrities potentially running for office. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is considering a run for office. Kanye West also announced a 2020 bid almost two years ago.
