    We are pleased to announce the engagement of Christina Lynne Akins, daughter of Ms. Kim Coursey of Atlanta and the late Mr. Richard "Larry" Akins of Pembroke, to Jason Randall Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Randall and Cindy Smith of Twin City, Georgia.
    The bride-elect is a 2009 graduate of the Georgia Southern University College of Education. She received a Bachelor of Science in early childhood education and currently operates Larry Akins Insurance Agency in Statesboro. Ms. Akins is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Mary Lou Barnett of Atlanta and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lewis and Myrtle Akins of Pembroke.
    The groom-elect is a 2010 graduate of Georgia Southern University. He received a bachelor's degree in history with a minor in anthropology and is currently employed at Ranco Event Rentals. Mr. Smith is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred and Mrs. Elsie Jennine Smith of Summerville, Georgia, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Raymond and Miriam Victoria Lyon of Rome, Georgia.
    The couple has planned to wed on September 27, 2014, at 5 p.m. at the home of a family friend (1154 Carter Smith Road, Statesboro).
    No local invitations will be sent. All family and friends are invited to attend.
