Metter has new police chief

Rob Shore was appointed to the position of Metter Police chief, City Manager Mandi Cody announced Friday.

Shore, who has been serving as interim chief since former chief Mack Seckinger’s termination in November, will be sworn in during a ceremony Tuesday, Jan 16, at 4 p.m. at the Metter Depot, Cody said.

Shore joined the Metter Police Department in 2016 as a captain.

“Chief Shore has worked in patrol, investigative, and leadership positions with multiple departments, including the Reidsville Police Department, Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office, Lyons Police Department and the Candler County Sheriff’s office,” she said.

Born in Renton, Washington, Shore grew up in Portland Oregon. He served eight years in the United States Army; four of those years as a military police officer, she said.

After an honorable discharge, he became a Georgia certified police officer in 1992.

Shore has served as deputy commander of the East Central Georgia Drug Task Force and with the Tri Circuit Drug Task Force. Before coming to Metter police, he was detached to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations as a task force agent with the Southeast Drug Enforcement office, Cody said.

He holds a Bachelor of Sciences in criminal justice administration and completed the Georgia Police Officer professional management program.

Shore was unavailable for comment Friday.

He has been married to wife Brenda for over 30 years. The couple has two adult children and one grandchild. They reside in Reidsville.

“Chief Shore has contributed leadership, direction and positive morale to the Metter Police Department,” Cody said. “We welcome him to this position and look forward to his continued contributions to the department.”
