‘Distinctive tattoo’ leads Bulloch County deputies to burglary suspect

This is the surveillance photo the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office released Monday, featuring a burglary suspect with a "distinctive tattoo."

A "distinctive tattoo" led to a man being arrested Wednesday on burglary charges after sheriff's deputies shared images from a surveillance video taken when the suspect burglarized a local business, according to the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office.

Rodney Jason Hall, 49, of Park Place Apartments, is charged with three counts each of first-degree burglary and theft by taking, two counts of concealing identity with a mask, and six counts of criminal trespass, Sheriff Lynn Anderson said in a news release issued Thursday.

"Over the past month ... investigators have responded to several commercial and school burglaries where drink and snack machines were broken into and change removed," he said. "Two of these incidents occurred at Southeast Bulloch High School and one at Sheppard Lumber Company" on U.S. Highway 80 East near Brooklet.

"The burglary at Sheppard Lumber was captured on video and an image of the suspect was obtained," Anderson said. "The image indicated that the suspect had a distinctive tattoo on his arm."

The image was distributed to local media and social media sites "in an effort to identify the suspect," the sheriff said.

A citizen recognized the tattoo and contacted investigators, Anderson said.

Hall was later arrested at his apartment on Lanier Drive and transported to the Bulloch County Jail, where he remains without bond. He is also on parole, Anderson said.

Anyone with additional information on this case should contact Investigator John Quattlebaum at (912) 764-1785 or submit an anonymous tip to tips@bullochsheriff.com.
