Two men were jailed Monday on animal cruelty and drug charges after officers discovered injured dogs, cocaine, marijuana and "Molly," a drug similar to Ecstasy, according to the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office.

Statesboro-Bulloch Crime Suppression Team investigators executed a search warrant at a West Jones Avenue home after finding evidence of drug sales, Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said in a news release issued Wednesday.

Ray Walker Jr., 37, of Moore Road in Portal, and Demetrius Millen, 32, of Miller Street Extension in Statesboro, were taken into custody after trying running away, Anderson said.

The search resulted in agents finding "multiple bags of cocaine, marijuana, and MDPV, also known by the street name ‘Molly,'" the sheriff said.

MDPV is similar to MDMA, also known as Ecstasy, Anderson said.

In addition to the drugs, investigators also located three injured dogs and equipment "consistent with the use of these dogs for fighting," the sheriff said.

Bulloch County Humane Enforcement officers responded to the home and removed the injured animals.

Both Walker and Millen are each charged with cocaine possession with intent to distribute, marijuana possession with intent to distribute, possession of MDPV, tampering with evidence, aggravated cruelty to animals, two counts of cruelty to animals, obstruction, and possession/use of a drug-related object. Both remained Wednesday evening at the Bulloch County Jail pending further judicial action, Anderson said.
