Poor parenting, disfunctional homes, and ignorant and absentee parents are the biggest problems, but teachers have so many things to do at school other than teach they are bogged down. When it is possible to make as much on welfare and if other handouts are available, why get an education? WE NEED TO GET OUR CULTURE BACK TO A SOUND WORK ETHIC AND A SENSE OF PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. Then, there will be motivation to do our best.

I have a child who had discipline problems. We tried reinforcing school rules by talking to them and setting the correct example (didn't work) then we tried spanking (didn't work) then loss of privileges (didn't work) and finally professional help and medication (didn't work all the time) so in my opinion this poll result is BS because while some problem children may be a result of poor parenting many are not.
