MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – Georgia Southern’s Southern Conference title hopes were put on hold Saturday afternoon by a clutch-hitting Chattanooga team.
The top-seeded Mocs plated the game-winning run with one out in the bottom seventh to down GSU 3-2 in the league tournament’s championship game, forcing a deciding matchup slated to begin around 3:40 p.m. Saturday.
It was the first tournament loss for the second-seeded Eagles, who led the entire game until UTC scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
