A Statesboro man was charged with pointing a gun at another and firing the weapon as the victims drove past, said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson.
Stephen McArthur Franklin, 40, Merrywood Drive, was charged with reckless conduct, discharging a firearm near a highway and pointing a firearm at another, he said.
Two victims from an Eldora Road address told deputies they were on the way to visit a female friend Monday, April 21, around 7 p.m. on Old Groveland Road off Ga. 67 when " a black Chevrolet Tahoe passed them at a high rate of speed," he said.
A few miles down the road, the victims " caught up" with the Tahoe, which was parked on the side of the road, and Franklin was standing beside it, holding a gun, he said.
As the two victims drove past, Franklin " pointed the gun at them," he said.
A few minutes later the victims heard gunshots, and contacted the Bulloch County Sheriff's Department, he said.
Further investigation led to Franklin's arrest regarding the incident.
Franklin was taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where he later posted bond. He faces further court action, Anderson said.
No one was injured in the incident, which remains under investigation.
