Thousands made the trip to Mill Creek Regional Park Wednesday to celebrate the Fourth of July at the annual Firecracker Fest. A breeze blew over the myriad of events — a frog jumping contest, a Subway sandwich eating contest, demonstrations — that took place throughout the day. As the day came to a close, people rushed to stake claim of the best spots to watch the fireworks. Thunderous and brilliant, the pyrotechnics lit up the sky over people in chairs, in truck beds and on blankets. For more photos of Fourth of July events, see Sunday's Lifestyles section.
