Work on the new Julia P. Bryant Elementary School building is underway. Plans to build the new Julia P. Bryant were finalized in March when voters approved an extension of the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax for education. The new JPB school is being built adjacent to the existing school, on property at the corner of West Main Street and Stockyard Road. After students move into the new school, students from Mattie Lively Elementary will be temporarily housed in the old Julia P. building while a new Mattie Lively is built. Upon completion of that school, the old Julia P. building will be torn down.
