A Savannah man found dead in Candler County was murdered, said Georgia Bureau of Investigations Assistant Special Agent-in-Charge Chuck Sullenger.
A Johnson Road resident found the body of Ecclesiastes Grady, 51, Burton Road, Savannah, in his yard around 5 p.m. Friday, Sullenger said.
Candler County Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene and Inv. Melvin Ivey called the Statesboro GBI office to handle the investigation.
Sullenger said he was unable to confirm details regarding the shooting, such as where Grady was shot and how many times, citing his reasons being that the case is still under active investigation.
Johnson Road is off St. Matthews Church Road in Candler County, a few miles from the Bulloch/Candler county line.
Sullenger said additional information regarding Grady's death, which has officially been ruled homicide, will be released at a later date after further investigation takes place.
Ivey also declined comment Sunday, referring all questions to GBI officials.
