Veronique Marie-Christine Molaison and Dr. Marcus Lynn Black were united in holy matrimony in a Nuptial Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church in Metairie, La., on April 18, 2009.
Co-celebrants of the mass were Monsignor Anthony Taoramina, uncle of Dr. Nicholas Taoramina of Statesboro, Ga.; and Father John Marse.
The bride was attired in a gold silk dress subtly adorned with pearls. She wore an heirloom from her great-great-grandmother, Josephine Piraud, which her mother had first worn during her Catholic Confirmation in Grenoble, France, engraved with her initials and date, J.P. 1823. The bride is the great-granddaughter of late General Arthur Piraud, who was awarded the Croix de Guerre by King Louis Philippe II and the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Georges Piraud of Grenoble, France. Also, she is the granddaughter of the late Sir Harry Franklin, knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for service to the Crown in Northern Rhodesia as minister of Finance. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clive Franklin of Chislehurst, Kent, England.
The groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Felder Black of Swainsboro, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. Algerine Lynn of Lyons, Ga. He is the son of Mr. Garland Black and the late Grace Black of Statesboro, Ga.
Following the wedding, a seated dinner reception was held at the Windsor Court Hotel in New Orleans, La., for family and close friends.
The bride and groom will take a delayed, prolonged honeymoon on the Cote d'Azur at the bride's mother's villa in Cavaliere, Provence, France.
