A Uvalda man was seriously injured in an attack Sunday morning, and police seek clues regarding his attackers' identities.
The 23-year-old victim met with Statesboro Police officers at East Georgia Regional Medical Center after the 3 a.m. attack on O'Neal Drive, according to police incident reports.
The victim suffered a broken eye socket, a swollen eye socket and cheek, and a laceration to the back of his head, reports said.
He told officers he was in the O'Neal Drive area when two unknown white males jumped him, punching him several times, he said.
While no arrests were made in this case, police did arrest a man Saturday night they said attacked another man at Retriever's Bar and
Grill in University Plaza.
Thomas R. Riddell, 25, Old Register Road, was charged with battery after he reportedly struck another man with his fist, causing a laceration to the victim's eye, reports stated. The attack took place around 8 p.m., reports stated.
Riddell was taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where he later posted bond, according to jail records.
