A Statesboro man was killed Monday in Metter after losing control of his vehicle, according to Georgia State Patrol reports.
Wesley Travis Cheron Perkins, 29, South College Street, was driving east on Lillian Street in Metter around 8:21 p.m. Monday when the crash occurred, according to reports by Trooper First-Class Carl Hutchinson and Cpl. Robert Balkcom.
Perkins was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control of his vehicle, running across the westbound lane, into a ditch, over a private drive and then became airborne, reports said.
His car overturned several times before coming to a rest, and Perkins was ejected near Addlestone Drive. He had not been wearing a seat belt, according to reports.
A passenger, Tywilla Wells, 35, was wearing a seat belt, but suffered injury and was transported to Candler County Hospital, reports said. Information was unavailable Tuesday regarding Wells’ condition.
