Charges are pending against a 16-year-old male who was driving a vehicle that overturned Friday night, ejecting him and two others. Four, including the driver, were injured; one passenger died.
Krissy Jade Deloach, 15, a Langston Chapel Middle School student who formerly attended Portal Middle School, was pronounced dead at the scene, Trooper First-Class Blake Hendrix.
No alcohol was involved in the accident on Mill Creek Road, he said.
The teen driver was exceeding the speed limit when he lost control of his vehicle on a curve, according to reports. The vehicle overturned multiple times, ejecting the driver as well as two passengers, one of whom was Deloach.
Two other passengers in the car were not ejected, Hendrix said. All involved were juveniles except one, who was 20. The four surviving occupants were transported by EMS to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries, according to reports.
The accident has been turned over to the Georgia State Patrol Region 4 Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team, Hendrix said.
