High-Traffic History

It's impossible to sort out how many of the more than 1,500 school children who will visit the Georgia Southern University Museum in tour groups this month are coming just because of the Camp Lawton exhibit. If trends hold, another 1,000 to 1,500 people of all ages will file through as "walk-ins" in November alone, and their reasons would be even harder to pin down.

American Boychoir in concert

The world-renowned American Boychoir was in Statesboro Thursday night to play a concert at First United Methodist Church. The Boychoir is widely considered the top concert boys choir in the United States. It was founded in Columbus, Ohio, in 1937 and moved to Princeton, N.J., in 1950.

Connie Sacks glows as she speaks of her husband, Max Sacks. A former soldier, Sacks was a contract tactical medical instructor with a government agency working in Afghanistan. On July 29, a little more than two months ago, the Taliban ambushed a convoy Max Sacks was traveling with. After helping get his crew to safety, he died from his injuries.
