Eagles begin fall camp

Georgia Southern opened fall camp on Friday under intense heat at Beautiful Eagle Creek, splitting the season's first practice into two separate sessions. The Eagles got back to work on the same day the USA Today revealed GSU's season-opening opponent Georgia as its No. 1 ranked team by the nation's coaches.

Eagles report to camp Wednesday

Georgia Southern University head football coach Chris Hatcher and his staff have made final preparations for Wednesday when 90 players report to fall camp. Players are scheduled to report Wednesday afternoon with Friday as the first of 29 scheduled practices prior to the season opener on Saturday, Aug. 30, at the University of Georgia.

SoCon schools earning big payday against FBS

GREENVILLE, S.C. - This fall Chattanooga's football team will bring home nearly a million dollars, a lucrative payday for a season-opening trip to Oklahoma and a visit to Florida State two weekends later.

Up in Boone, N.C., Appalachian State will earn a whopping $550,000 - an enormous guarantee for a Football Championship Subdivision team - for its Aug. 30 visit to LSU. Georgia Southern will also cash-in on a Football Bowl Subdivision opponent, making $260,000 for playing at Georgia on Aug. 30.

Q&A with new Eagle softball coach Maggie Johnson

Maggie Johnson, Georgia Southern's new softball coach, spent the weekend in Tennessee searching for future Eagles. In the next few days she'll swing by campus to set up her office and begin getting situated. Within a week, she hopes to be in a moving truck headed for Statesboro.
