Southern Conference football programs have been feeling the effects of hurricane season in the Southeast. As Tropical Storm Hanna approaches, coastal athletics programs are beginning to consider contingency plans for Saturday's games. Charleston Southern - which is scheduled to play Wofford - on Saturday is one of two Big South Conference programs considering moving its Saturday game. Officials from both Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina - which faces Colgate this weekend - said they would have to make decisions by today as to the status of their games.
ATHENS – So, you thought Georgia Southern had a chance for the upset. Realistically, the Eagles weren't supposed to have a prayer against the No. 1 Bulldogs and in reality, when the two teams took the field, they didn't.
ATHENS – Georgia Southern unveiled its two-quarterback system on Saturday in the season opener, a 45-21 loss to No. 1 Georgia at Sanford Stadium.
There's only 10 FBS conferences, and Georgia Southern is the champion of one of them. Only the Eagles, Florida State and Ohio State went through their conference schedules unbeaten, and that's saying something.
