DEAR DR. GOTT: I have been diagnosed with tinnitus and told there is nothing I can do for it. Would you know of an herbal remedy or natural cure I might try?

Dear Abby 9/6

DEAR ABBY: I am a woman living with a man, but "in love" with another man whom I formerly dated but broke up with because he's an alcoholic. "Spike" is a true biker - exciting, funny and fun. Our lifestyles didn't mesh, so I made the decision we shouldn't be together. I miss him very much, and it keeps me from being totally committed in my head to the man I live with.

Bridge 9/6

You are playing Chicago bridge. This is the final deal of the night. If you can make four spades, worth 620 points and 620 dollars, you will end plus. But if you go down, you will have to write an IOU. Can you avoid that embarrassment?

Dear Abby 9/5

DEAR ABBY: My sister-in-law, "Carol," doesn't wash her hands after changing diapers. I find it repulsive, and I can't help but cringe. I have also noticed that her kids don't wash their hands after using the bathroom - or any other time, for that matter - unless instructed to do so and closely watched. Even then, they don't use soap.

Ask Dr. Gott 9/5

DEAR DR. GOTT: I have suffered from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (diarrhea) for 50 years. It began in my early teens. I have tried everything from the early treatment of eating bland foods to today's adding bulk to my diet through the use of roughage and fiber. It feels like I have tried virtually everything but still haven't found relief from what, for me, has been a life-altering condition. Everything I do revolves around IBS, from school in my teens, to jobs, family activities and even everyday routines.

Marcus Terentius Varro, who died in 27 B.C., said, "The number of guests at dinner should not be less than the number of the Graces nor exceed that of the Muses. That is, it should begin with three and stop at nine." Do you agree?

Dear Abby 9/4

DEAR ABBY: My father and I usually get along well, but whenever we get into an argument, he'll say something like, "Well, maybe I should just kill myself. Then you won't have to deal with me!" This has been going on for as long as I can remember. I'm 21 now.

New friendships and associations you make will not be of a fleeting nature, and they will become more endearing with the test of time. In fact, more than one will become a lifelong companion.

Dear Abby 9/3

DEAR ABBY: My daughter, who is being married in three months, mentioned to me that her fiance's friends have a tradition of covering the newlyweds' car with condoms. Whatever happened to tin cans and a "Just Married" sign?

Ask Dr. Gott 9/3

DEAR DR. GOTT: I am an 87-year-old female. June 2007, I had a very bad stroke and am now in a rehab facility because my left side is paralyzed. I have Restless Legs Syndrome. Requip no longer works, I get little sleep, and it is driving me nuts. A friend told me you had a soap remedy that might help me. I am counting on you!
