Screven tops SEB in region showdown

The Screven County Lady Gamecocks took advantage of three Southeast Bulloch errors, scoring six times in the fourth inning to upset region rival SEB (21-1, 13-1) and claim the regular season region 3-AA first seed Tuesday with a 6-2 win at the Sylvania-Screven County Recreation Department.

Know your enemy Elon

Eagles fans don't really have a problem with Elon. Sure, they're another conference opponent looking to upend GSU on another beautiful Saturday at Paulson…but it's still Elon. The Eagles have dominated Elon (founded 1889), winning six out of six with an average margin of victory of almost 24 since their first meeting in 1998. There like the new kid at the end of the street. Southern fans know he's down there, but have more important things to worry about.

Vanderbilt stuns Georgia in Athens

ATHENS - Vanderbilt celebrated wildly, cheered on by a sprinkling of gold-and-black-clad fans amid the sea of red. Georgia and its 92,000 backers trudged out of Sanford Stadium in stunned silence. The scoreboard went blank as soon as it was over, a feeble attempt to erase what everyone had just seen.
