Statesboro senior Morgan Doty knows his role. The 6-foot-3 senior has come off the bench for most of the 2006-2007 season. After a good few days of practice last week, Doty earned a start against upstart Whitewater in the first round of the AAAA state tournament.

Zac Mosely's game-winning home run lifted Claxton to a 6-5 win over Montgomery County Monday. Matthew Rogers struck out 12 and allowed two earned runs for the win. Jeremy Cerventes was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer for Claxton, while Kelvin Goodson went 1-for-4 with an RBI double and Harley Hendrix was 2-for-3 and double and one RBI. Mosely was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI.

The Bulloch Academy boy's basketball team picked up a 44-30 victory over the Heritage Hawks Thursday in the first round of the GISA Class AA state tournament at Middle Georgia College in Cochran. With the win, BA advances to the Elite Eight and will play Westminster Christian Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at MGC.
