Jenkins County, Lady Tigers win Plankenhorn

BROOKLET - 12 teams met at Southeast Bulloch High School to compete in the fourth annual Plankenhorn Invitational track meet on Saturday, and the Claxton girls and Jenkins County boys took home first place trophies. The SEB Yellow Jackets came in second in both the men's and women's categories.

Metter wins ninth straight

METTER - Southeast Bulloch starting pitcher Fisher Strickland struck out 10 batters in five innings and Ryan Burroughs went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI's - and crossed the plate twice himself - but it was not enough to get by Metter as the Tigers won 8-6 and increased their winning streak to nine straight on Friday night.

Local Roundup: BA to build softball field

On any given afternoon in either the spring or fall, Bulloch Academy students are transported off-campus for varsity softball and junior varsity baseball practice. All games are played on the fields of the Statesboro-Bulloch County Recreation Department.

11 teams come to SEB for Plankenhorn

Today at 10 a.m., Southeast Bulloch will invite 11 area high schools to compete in the fourth annual Plankenhorn Invitational track meet, an exhibition tournament put on to honor former SEB track star Derrick Plankenhorn. Plankenhorn was a student-athlete for the Yellow Jackets who tragically passed away during a workout in 2003.

SCD spoils SEB Senior Night

BROOKLET - The Southeast Bulloch Yellow Jackets (3-7, 2-6) celebrated senior night Thursday, and four seniors were honored before SEB fell to the Savannah Country Day Hornets 4-1 in a game that proved to be too much to handle for the home team.

Jackets pick up region victory

BROOKLET - Starting pitcher David McCarthy allowed only three runs and threw 92 pitches over five innings, and Fisher Strickland crossed the plate three times and earned the save as the Southeast Bulloch Yellow Jackets (6-4, 2-3) knocked off the Westside Patriots (11-4, 3-3) 8-5 in a Tuesday night Region 3-AA contest.

Lakeside spoils Senior Night at SHS

Statesboro's offensive woes continued Tuesday night, and the Blue Devils couldn't overcome a first-half goal falling 1-0 to visiting Lakeside at Womack Field. The loss spoiled Senior Night for SHS, which fell to 3-4 in Region 3-AAAA play.

SHS girls also struggle offensively

Lakeside's speed and skill was too much for the Lady Blue Devils of Statesboro Tuesday night as the Lady Panthers beat SHS 4-0. Lakeside scored two goals in each half en route to the victory, spoiling Senior Night.
