Underwood bounces back

As the Statesboro Blue Devils prepared for the 2012 football season, the plan appeared to be simple. With a wishbone attack and a deep stable of running backs, the Devils looked to 6-foot-5, 300-pound tackle John Underwood to clear the way for plenty of success on the ground.

Things are better in Metter

METTER - The Metter Tigers were honored and excited to participate in the first game of the first ever Erk Russell Classic last season at Paulson Stadium. After suffering a 42-7 defeat at the hands of Emanuel County Institute, it would have been understandable to see less enthusiasm for a second appearance in the Classic - facing the now-defending state champion Bulldogs from ECI.

Tough day for SHS at tourney
