Lady Blue Devils extend winning streak to 15 games

Eleven months ago, the Statesboro and South Effingham girls basketball teams squared off in the Region 2-AAAA title game. While the stakes weren't as high Friday night, Statesboro looked every bit like a team capable of taking its third consecutive region crown as it coasted to a 69-12 win at the Devils' Den.

Blue Devils make all-region; Summers on all-star team

The Statesboro High School Blue Devils, the 2011 Region 2-AAAA football champion, had a number of players named to the all-region team. Offensive players selected were Marshuan Jackson, Herman Lee, Freddie Burden, Rahkym Thomas, Reid Pennington and Michael Summers. Defensive players selected were Shaq Johnson, Lenard Robinson, Reggie Owens and Haydon Rollins. In addition to all-region honors, Burden was also selected to the all-state team.
