SEB makes short work of Groves Rebels

The Southeast Bulloch baseball team continued to plow through their region schedule as they took two games from the visiting Groves Rebels Friday evening. The Yellow Jackets won game one 16-1, and went on to take the nightcap 17-2.

Portal can't keep up with Calvary Day

Statesboro's struggles continue vs. Effingham

The long season continued for the Statesboro baseball team Friday evening at Mill Creek park. The Blue Devils lost a heartbreaking 5-4 game on Wednesday to Effingham County in a game where they held a 4-0 lead in the seventh inning. This time around it wasn't really close as they dropped an 8-0 decision to the visiting Rebels.

Bulloch Academy's home opener ruined

Bulloch Academy christened in their newly renovated field Thursday as they host Trinity in a region matchup. The renovations saw plenty of holes filled in, but Thursday the Gators dug themselves a hole in the form of a 6-0 deficit, that they couldn't dig themselves out of, and ended up falling 7-3.

SHS boys make short work of New Hampstead

The Statesboro boys soccer team rebounded nicely from their 6-2 region loss to South Effingham as they jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead and went on to cruise to the 6-0 win over the visiting New Hampstead Phoenix in a region game held at Womack Field.

Lady Devils demolish Phoenix

The Statesboro Blue Devil girls had their biggest offensive output of the season and pitched a shutout in the process as they knocked off New Hampstead in a region match up by a mercy rule-shortened win of 10-0 Friday night at Womack Field.

SEB swept away by Savannah Arts

BROOKLET - A three-minute stretch late in the first half turned a 1-1 game into a comfortable lead for Savannah Arts, and the Panthers went on to defeat Southeast Bulloch, 6-2, in a Region 3-AAA boys soccer game Tuesday at Fred Shaver Field.

Southeast Bulloch Yellow Jackets roll to sweep

The Southeast Bulloch Yellow Jackets opened region play Friday against Savannah High and - just as has been the case the past few years - the Jackets put up a couple of football scores against the Blue Jackets, winning game one 18-0 before winning the second game by a 20-0 count.

Portal baseball roughed up after rain delay

Portal's game with Liberty County was delayed 20 minutes due to rain. After the game, PHS coach Dennis Moore may have wished the rain would have continued, as the Panthers fell in a 12-1, run rule-shortened game.

SHS sweeps past SEB in soccer doubleheader

Statesboro and Southeast Bulloch renewed their intercounty rivalry on the soccer field Tuesday night in Brooklet. Statesboro dominated the ball most of the match, and despite a late goal to avoid a shutout, Southeast Bulloch fell by a final count of 5-1.

Toombs tops SEB in non-region game

Monday night's baseball game between Southeast Bulloch and Toombs County looked as though it would be a slugfest, but after scoring seven runs in the first two innings, the Yellow Jackets were outscored 7-0 from the third inning on and lost 12-7.

The Statesboro Blue Devils were able to rebound from the region championship loss to New Hampstead as they knocked off Bainbridge 55-35 in the opening round of the Class 5-A state tournament.

Statesboro girls charging into new season

Last season, the Statesboro girls soccer team nearly won its region and easily secured a spot in the Class AAAAA state tournament. This time around, expectations remain high as the Lady Blue Devils return a solid group that are set on spurring another - hopefully longer - run into the state playoffs.
