Georgia Southern senior woman administrator for athletics Cathy Beene has been elected to chair the NCAA Men's and Women's Tennis Committee for the 2011-2012 athletics season pending approval of the NCAA Division I Championships/Sport Management Cabinet. A member of the committee since 2009, Beene ascends to the leadership role for her final year on the committee. This will be Beene's second stint as chair for the committee, serving from 1993-1997 while coaching tennis at the Division I level.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Southern Conference, in conjunction with its marketing partner CSE, announced Monday the league has agreed to a three-year plan with public television systems in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina to televise the conference's football package. The distribution platform will reach nearly 11 million homes through 32 affiliates, making it the largest regional distribution option across both broadcast and cable.
