Vanderspiegel takes the helm for Lady Eagles

An assistant coach for the Hofstra women's soccer program for the last four seasons, Lindsey Vanderspiegel has been named the new women's soccer coach for the Eagles, as announced by Georgia Southern Director of Athletics Sam Baker Monday. Vanderspiegel helped lead the Pride to its most successful seasons in school history and two NCAA second-round championship appearances.

Eagles' Showers arrested in dispute

Georgia Southern football player Kentrellis Marquis Showers, and a woman, Jomeshia Jquana Slaughter, were arrested at their Cambridge Pines apartment early Saturday morning after Statesboro police responded to a call about a verbal altercation that turned physical, according to an incident report.
