A Hagan man was charged with murdering his mother Tuesday and Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents are seeking answers regarding the murder of a man whose body was found in his Pembroke home Monday.
Statesboro and Bulloch County will get a "world view" Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the area's Fourth Annual International Festival.

The cafeteria was full Monday night during the Portal Middle-High School Council meeting. Many citizens showed up to voice concern that plans for a new middle-high school may not include a new gymnasium, but others praised the Bulloch County Board of Education for budgeting a new school only a few years after board members considered closing the school.
A murder trial slated to begin Monday was canceled after a man charged in the double homicide entered a guilty plea.
Judge Gary L. Mikell will be the keynote speaker for Tuesday's Veteran's Day Recognition event at the Emma Kelly Theater at 11 a.m. The event is sponsored by the Averitt Center for the Arts and American Legion Dexter Post 90 to honor all who have served or are serving the United States during a time of war.

Democratic Congressman John Barrow secured his third term in Congress Tuesday, easily defeating Republican challenger John Stone in the race for Georgia's U.S. House District 12.
In a race that hadn't been contested in 20 years, incumbent Bulloch County Probate Judge Lee DeLoach kept his seat with a landslide of votes, earning 75.8 percent of the votes to challenger Liz Johnson's 24.1 percent.
ATLANTA - The last seat of the new Senate will likely be determined by a runoff in Georgia, where Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss apparently came just short of winning enough votes to send him to a second term.
