A man whose truck was repossessed Oct. 15 fired shots at the repo man, then chased him down and took the truck back. But then sheriff's deputies chased the offender down and arrested him at gunpoint, according to reports.
A man Portal Police said shoplifted wine was wanted on more serious charges, including motor vehicle theft.

A local man has filed a complaint with Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel's office, citing improper behavior regarding solicitation of votes at a local nursing home.
A Statesboro man was arraigned Thursday on federal bank fraud charges, according to an indictment filed Oct. 9 by the U.S. District Court for Southern District of Georgia, Statesboro Division.

When all the votes are counted Election Day – Nov. 4 – the turnout in Bulloch County may exceed 25,000. That's almost 6,000 more votes than were cast in the 2004 presidential election and Bulloch officials want to ensure every vote is counted accurately.

Bulloch County is so large it often takes an ambulance 15 minutes or more to reach it's destination. That's not good, especially when a life is in danger.
Silver Creek Saloon wants the same rights as bars in the Statesboro city limits, and owner Judy Smith asked Bulloch County Commissioners Tuesday to consider ordinances that will allow them to serve liquor in the rural, Old Register Way establishment.
With minimal discussion, the Statesboro City Council unanimously passed the first reading of two proposed changes to the city's alcohol ordinance.
