Schools need more school buses

Last week's meeting of the Bulloch County Board of Education included a preliminary discussion of the 2008 budget. All figures discussed were only tentative because Gov. Sonny Perdue has yet to sign the 2008 budget. Using the projected figures, the school system is facing a deficit of approximately $500,000. Part of this deficit comes from expected reduced federal funding by approximately $400,000.

Doctors deliver baby on Delta flight after woman goes into labor

ATLANTA - A Delta Air Lines flight from Munich, Germany, had to make an emergency stopover in North Carolina after one of its passengers went into premature labor and two passengers who are doctors delivered the baby, airline and hospital officials said.

Superintendent finalists announced

During a brief meeting Thursday, the Bulloch County Board of Education announced three finalists in the search for a school superintendent to replace Dr. Jessie Strickland, who retires in June.

The three candidates in the running for the position are Dr. Jose Gilberto Bosa Jr., executive director of Instructional Services with Clarke County School District; Dr. Lewis Dale Holloway Jr., the current Clark County school superintendent; and Dr. Michael Scott Winstead, director of curriculum and accountability with the Knox County, TN. school system.
