Daycare closes after child escapes

A Statesboro child care facility closed last week after a 23-month-old child was found wandering around outside the fenced area of Progressive Childcare and Learning Center. The closing follows a history of state-recorded violations by the center, including numerous fence safety infractions.

GSU alum named head of national golf association

Georgia Southern University alumnus Mike Davis was named recently executive director of the United States Golf Association. Davis becomes the seventh executive director in the 116-year history of the USGA, after serving as senior director of rules and competitions since 2005.

Remains identified as Statesboro man reported missing in October 2007

Crime lab tests determined human remains found Wednesday underneath a North College Street home were those of Orlando Quentin Hamilton, a black man who was 20 years old when reported missing in October 2007.

Human remains found under College St. house

Human remains were found Wednesday underneath a North College Street home after authorities received an anonymous tip. Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said a male caller dialed the Bulloch County Sheriff's Department to report finding possible human remains.
