Farm Family of the Year is M.L. Miller

The Statesboro-Bulloch County Chamber of Commerce Agribusiness Committee honored the late M. L. "Buddy" Miller posthumously Friday when his family was named the 2007 Statesboro-Bulloch County Farm Family of the Year, and when a scholarship was renamed in his honor.

After prayers, Georgia gets rain, but not enough to ease drought; storm injures 9 in Tenn.

Madrigal Dinners Thursday

Kicking off the Christmas season, Georgia Southern Opera presents its third annual Madrigal Dinners and Holiday Celebration Thursday and Saturday at 6 p.m. in the atrium of the Information Technology Building on GSU's campus. Each evening - which will be filled with dinner, dancing and music - will be topped off with a one-act Christmas opera, entitled "St. Nicholas", to be performed during dessert and coffee.

Red Cross, United Way help Bulloch family after fire

: April 7, 2007 started out like any ordinary day for Jackie Anderson. She and her three children woke up, ate breakfast and respectively set off to their different schools. Jackie drove to her classes at Ogeechee Technical College where she has now completed her degree as a medical assistant. Her three children got into their car to go to school in Claxton. By mid-morning their lives would be changed forever.

Mill Creeks holds Veterans Day Parade

Mill Creek Elementary School was awash in red, white and blue as about 50 veterans showed up to watch the students and faculty march in its annual Veterans Day parade. Principal Trey Robertson said they took about a week and half to prepare all the events and music for the parade.

GSU student diagnosed with bacterial meningitis

An undergraduate student at Georgia Southern University residing off-campus was diagnosed with suspected bacterial meningitis. He was treated with prophylactic medication and immediately transported to the East Georgia Regional Medical Center for additional testing and treatment. Initial testing indicates the student does have bacterial meningitis and additional testing is being conducted to confirm the diagnosis.
