Doctors deliver baby on Delta flight after woman goes into labor

ATLANTA - A Delta Air Lines flight from Munich, Germany, had to make an emergency stopover in North Carolina after one of its passengers went into premature labor and two passengers who are doctors delivered the baby, airline and hospital officials said.

Superintendent finalists announced

During a brief meeting Thursday, the Bulloch County Board of Education announced three finalists in the search for a school superintendent to replace Dr. Jessie Strickland, who retires in June.

The three candidates in the running for the position are Dr. Jose Gilberto Bosa Jr., executive director of Instructional Services with Clarke County School District; Dr. Lewis Dale Holloway Jr., the current Clark County school superintendent; and Dr. Michael Scott Winstead, director of curriculum and accountability with the Knox County, TN. school system.

State funding for adult literacy classes proved insufficient, classes continue with schools' aid

The state's amended budget for the 2007 fiscal year left the needs of the Technical College System of Georgia unmet, which caused system leaders to consider furloughing adult literacy instructors. An interruption in the June classes would have meant no education programs for the more than 68,000 literacy students who are currently enrolled throughout the state. But a solution was found to avoid cutting the classes.
