SEB 'Swarm' sets another school record

The Southeast Bulloch High School "Swarm" marching band set another school record this past Saturday when the squad came home from the Tenth Annual "Heart of Georgia Marching Band Competition" with dozen more trophies. The biggest prize at the event held in Warner Robins was the "Second Runner Up Regardless of Class" Trophy, which meant the Swarm was judged better than 23 of the 26 bands in attendance.

Bulloch NAACP to hold annual banquet

United Way agency helps create Safe Haven

The statistics are startling. Nearly one-third of American women (31 percent) report being physically or sexually abused by a husband or boyfriend at some point in their lives. Approximately 1.3 million women are physically assaulted by an intimate partner annually in the United States. About 50 percent of offenders in state prison for spousal abuse kill their victims. Yet research shows that a woman will leave her significant other seven times before actually staying away.

County votes to move forward with Flying J proposal

210 vote on third day of advance city council voting

During the third day of early voting for the Statesboro City Council, 210 individuals came out to cast their ballots - about the same as Tuesday's total. City Election Superintendent Judy McCorkle said voting was a little slow in the morning, picking up after 1 p.m. with a bit of a rush between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
