After making a significant impact on Statesboro and Bulloch county since moving here in 1932, Virginia Boyce Wilson Russell died Tuesday. She was 97.
She appeared outside of Brooklet Monday, pushing a wooden cart resembling a covered wagon, decorated with American flags. As each mile passed underneath her feet, Rachel Milano placed a flag in the ground along U.S. 80, hoping her actions would call attention to the reason she is pushing the half-ton wagon from Savanna to Atlanta.
Things are looking up for area farmers. The ground water level is back at a decent level, rain showers have been frequent visitors, and farmers are gearing up for what they hope will be a recovery season after several years of drought.
