Fair workers get medical, dental care

In what has become an annual fair tradition, the First Baptist Church of Statesboro is again sponsoring a dental trailer and medical tent for the workers at the Ogeechee Fair. Free of charge, the workers will be able to obtain basic dental care at the trailer, such as fillings and extractions, as well as some primary medical check-ups.

'Freudian Clips' concert at Averitt Center Friday

This Friday night, Georgia Southern Opera will be breaking out the psychoanalysis during their annual fall scene's program entitled "Freudian Clips." The script centers around the hypothetical, but often comedic analysis of Don Giovanni by Dr. Sigmund Freud and ties together scenes from five different operas. The concert will be held at the Averitt Center for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. and is free for GSU students. General admission tickets are $5.

5 arrests for suspected meth lab

A search for a stolen car in Ellabell led to the arrest of five suspects after Bulloch County Sheriff's deputies found a suspected methamphetamine lab in an outbuilding.

Shooting breaks up AA meeting

A man walked into an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting Saturday morning and began firing a semiautomatic handgun as people fled. No one was injured in the shooting, but two bullets damaged nearby vehicles.

Claxton man killed in Sunday wreck

A Claxton man was killed early Sunday evening when he lost control of his car and it overturned. According to Georgia State Patrol reports, Edward Guadalupe Ceballos, 28, Claxton, was driving on Mosley road six miles east of Claxton when his vehicle left the roadway. He appeared to have over corrected, and traveled across the roadway before overturning several times. Ceballos was partially ejected from the vehicle and died as a result of his injuries, reports stated.

Fair fun begins today

A parade heralding the opening of the 46th Annual Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair starts today at 5 p.m. through downtown Statesboro. From dignitaries to floats, antique tractors and cars to horses, the 105-plus entry parade will meander from East Olliff Street along North and South Main Streets to Fair Road at its intersection with Zetterower Avenue.

Police: Women with crowbar rob elderly man

Two women armed with a crowbar robbed an elderly man of his money early Wednesday, but Bulloch County Sheriff's deputies caught the women and arrested them, along with a man they picked up after the robbery.
