Sunday alcohol sales at Statesboro restaurants is back on the table after the Alcohol Control Board voted to recommend city council members call for voters to decide the issue. A possible catch? All restaurants seeking to serve booze on Sunday would need to prove at least 75 percent of its gross sales come from food.

Hurricane Ike may be churning 700 miles south of Statesboro, but East Georgia Regional Medical Center already is helping safeguard potential victims of the monster storm. Sixteen patients from two hospitals in the Florida Keys were evacuated Sunday to East Georgia Regional ahead of Ike, which struck eastern Cuba late Sunday.
The Statesboro Regional Library's first "One Book, One Community" program was so popular with the community, the library plans to do it again.

With Thursday's prediction that Hanna would make landfall near the North Carolina/South Carolina border, Bulloch County emergency responders breathed a sigh of relief, but haven't completely lowered their guards.
Hurricane Hanna may blow by today with little effect on Bulloch County, but First Friday officials decided not to take any chances and postponed the monthly celebration from Friday, Sept. 5 to next Friday - Friday Sept. 12.

Over 100 participated in the 2014 Zombie Run 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, October 25 to help raise funds for local health organizations, including the Bulloch Partnership for Health, the Georgia Southern University Rural Health Research Institute, the Mercer University Center for Rural Health and Health Disparities, and the Georgia Southern University Wellness Program.
The Georgia Southern football team took the practice fields at Beautiful Eagle Creek Thursday to kick off their first fall camp after officially joining the Sun Belt Conference.
