Townhall meeting about Luetta Moore Park Thursday

The wheels are finally in motion to improve the situation at the Louetta Moore Memorial Park on MLK Blvd. A townhall meeting to discuss renovation of the park, sponsored jointly by the City of Statesboro and Bulloch County, will take place today at 115 North Main Street in the Commissioners Meeting Room at the Bulloch County North Main Annex building. The meeting starts at 6 p.m.

Statesboro City Council tables redistricting plan

The council chambers were packed Tuesday evening as the Statesboro City Council debated a plan to redistrict the five council seats. After a motion to deny the redistricting request was offered by Councilman Will Britt, Councilman Gary Lewis moved to table the discussion, ultimately approved by a three to two vote.

Gateway Warriors help Heart Association

For the past 11 years, Subway has teamed up with local businesses to raise money for the American Heart Association. The proceeds of all sales at Subway restaurants in Bulloch County between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. went directly to the American Heart Association. The businesses divide up into teams, and compete for the bragging rights for who raised the most money. Viracon, Wal-Mart D.C., and Briggs & Stratton teamed up on the Gateway Warriors team. Between pre-orders, donations, and counter sales, The Gateway Warriors raised $ 3,122.51.
