Council votes to take first step toward Flying J store

The Statesboro City Council voted Tuesday to take the first step towards installing infrastructure that would support a 22-acre Flying J truck stop development at the corner of 301 South and I-16. This includes entering into a agreement between the council, the Bulloch County Board of Commisioners, the Bulloch County Board of Education and the Flying J Corporation.

A man was killed Sunday in Candler County, and a teenager was stabbed to death Sunday in an apartment parking lot in Claxton, said Chuck Sullenger, assistant Special Agent-in-Charge of the Statesboro office of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Severe thunderstorm causes problems across Bulloch

Kennel application prompted animal cruelty investigation

A woman arrested last week on animal cruelty charges had applied for a new kennel license, which prompted state officials to inspect her facility. What they found led to seizure of 10 dogs and nine counts of animal cruelty for Katie Sixtos-Villalva.
